Project Leader

Short Bio: Bartosz Błasiak was born in Poland. In 2012 he received his M.S. degree in Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST) under the supervision of Prof. Robert W. Góra, and in 2016 his Ph.D. from Korea University in Seoul under the supervision of Prof. Minhaeng Cho. After a short post-doc in Korea, he moved to Frankfurt/Main and worked as a post-doc at the Institute for Biophysics in Goethe University (Frankfurt/Main) in Jens Bredenbeck's research group. From November 2017 he is a member of the Department of Physical and Quantum Chemistry (WUST). His research interests concentrate on the development of Quantum Chemistry of large molecular aggregates, studying the solvation effects on molecular properties and Vibrational Spectroscopy.

Research Partner

Short Bio: Professor Wojciech Bartkowiak joined the Faculty of Chemistry at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology in 1998 where he is now a Full Professor and the leader of the Department of Physical and Quantum Chemistry (formerly Theoretical Chemistry Group). He co-authored over 120 scientific publications and book chapters. His research focuses on electronic and vibrational structure theory of organic molecules with a special emphasis on multiphoton absorption and the influence of external confinement on molecular properties.

Research Partner

Short Bio: Dr. Robert Góra obtained PhD in Physical Chemistry from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) in 2002 under the supervision of Prof. Szczepan Roszak and DSc (habilitation) in Theoretical Chemistry in 2014. In 2002 he joined the Faculty of Chemistry at the WUST where he currently serves as an assistant professor. In the past he was associated with Prof. Jerzy Leszczyński (frequent short-term visits at the Jackson State University, Jackson, MS, USA in 1999-2003) and Dr. Ioannis D. Petsalakis (short-term visit at the National Hellenic Research Foundation, Athens, Greece in 2001). In 1997 he was an exchange student at the University of Bristol supervised by Prof. David Cooper. More recently, in 2014 he was a visiting professor at the Madurai Kamarai University, Madurai, India.

Postdoc

Dr. Joanna Bednarska received her M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics in 2014, and PhD degree in Physical Chemistry in 2019 from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST). Her scientific advisors were Prof. Wojciech Bartkowiak and Dr. Robert Zaleśny. In 2014 she received the funding from Polish Ministry of Science and Education within the program “Diamond Grant” to conduct research on the simulations of one- and two-photon absorption spectra of molecules in solutions. She co-authored 7 publications.
